AuthorPalooza is an OELMA conference event- your chance to meet local authors! The event takes place near and around our vendor/exhibit area with appetizers available to munch on while you listen to your favorite authors. There are also beverages available to purchase. We want you to attend AuthorPalooza when you attend the OELMA Fall Conference. My question is- what can we do to entice you to spend some time with the authors? Please respond by clicking on comments.
Thanks- Marie Sabol, 2008 OELMA Conference Chair.

  1. I attended Authorpalooza last year for the first time because there were several authors that I wanted to hear. In the meeting areas there were no micophones and no podiums or tables for the authors to set down their materials. The presentations were constantly interrupted by loudspeakers announcements of door prize winners. There was no one from OELMA at the meeting areas to keep the authors on a time schedule. In short, it was not at atmosphere conducive to the presentations. By the time I got to the appetizers, they were all gone.

  2. I loved Authorpalooza except for the fact that the authors were being constantly interrupted. One or two seemed not to know what was expected of them. One seemed miffed that he’d been told to read from his book and he didn’t want to do that (he didn’t and his talk was very interesting).

Treat the authors as the honored guests that they are.

    I don’t care about appetizers. :)
