I loved Authorpalooza except for the fact that the authors were being constantly interrupted. One or two seemed not to know what was expected of them. One seemed miffed that he'd been told to read from his book and he didn't want to do that (he didn't and his talk was very interesting).

Treat the authors as the honored guests that they are.

I don't care about appetizers. :)

I attended Authorpalooza last year for the first time because there were several authors that I wanted to hear. In the meeting areas there were no micophones and no podiums or tables for the authors to set down their materials. The presentations were constantly interrupted by loudspeakers announcements of door prize winners. There was no one from OELMA at the meeting areas to keep the authors on a time schedule. In short, it was not at atmosphere conducive to the presentations. By the time I got to the appetizers, they were all gone.
