I have a long drive to Columbus and can't blow off most of my weekend too. We used to hold conferences in different areas then got locked into Columbus! I miss seeing some of the people from Toledo and other areas who will not drive that far. It was fun to go somewhere else last year. I was hoping we would start moving around again but no we are back to Columbus. My district won't pay for the night before no matter when it starts, so I'm better off with Thurs and Fri. It can't hurt to try anyways. I like both the idea of a half-day on Thursday (pre-conf?/author-pallooza) full day Friday and then Saturday could be optional all-day or not, but no later than 2-3PM for people who are anxious about getting home to families with a longer commute.
